Thousand Oaks Tragedy |Update from The Chancellor and College Presidents

Dear VCCCD Students and Employees,

We are saddened to acknowledge the terrible tragedy that occurred last night in Thousand Oaks. There are no words that can help us comprehend the irrational taking of the lives of others. Our VCCCD police have been engaged and are helping to provide us with up-to-date information. We do know that some students who attended Moorpark College were present at the location of the shooting. We do not have confirmed names of the victims at this time. All three of our colleges are currently open.  You will be receiving information from the administration at each college regarding the availability of counseling services for students and employees.

Our collective sympathies are extended to the families and friends of the shooting victims.  The Board of Trustees, Chancellor, and Presidents will do our part as members of all Ventura County communities to provide support and assistance during this time of incomprehensible loss.

We will send more information as details become available.
