College district to get funding to bolster child care at Ventura College

There’s a space carved out at Ventura College for child care — an important service that allows parents to attend class while their little ones are cared for. 

And now even more people may be able to benefit from it. 

Recently, U.S. Rep. Julia Brownley, D-Westlake Village, announced more than $500,000 in federal funding over the course of four years from the U.S. Department of Education that will help support the Ventura County Community College District’s Child Care Access Means Parents in School Project.

The funding will help enhance and support existing child care programs at Ventura College and provide for about 30 additional child-care scholarships per year.
