The Board of Trustees recognize the following students who have been selected for the 2019 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-California Academic Team presented by the Community College League of California:

Chair McKay and Trustee Perez were recognized by the Ventura County School Board Association and Ventura County Office of Education receiving a Certificate of Meritorious Public Service for serving as a Member of the Ventura County Community College District Governing Board for eight years.

Moorpark College held the California Majors Cyber Cup on February 23, 2019, and accepted Resolutions from Assembly member Jacqui Irwin and the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, Proclamations from the City of Port Hueneme and City of Thousand Oaks, and a Certificate of Recognition by the Moorpark City Council.
The Board of Trustees recognized Michael Shanahan for his service as Vice Chancellor of Human Resources. He has accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer for 4 Kids 2 Kids in Ventura.
Michael has worked with the VCCCD nearly six years and has made many contributions including the support of many hiring processes, diversity dashboard implementation, policy and procedure review and revisions, implementation of LEAD events and other professional development activities, and providing information and advice at many staff and Board meetings.
