New Library Services Platform for All-District Libraries

The libraries at Moorpark College, Oxnard College, and Ventura College went live this week with their new library services platform. This is the culmination of a yearlong state-funded project to provide all California community colleges with a shared library systems solution.

Moorpark, Oxnard, Ventura, and VC East Campus will see many benefits from the implementation of this new platform.  All current VCCCD students, classified professionals, and faculty will automatically have a library account and will receive library receipts and notifications in their VCCCD email account.

Starting in Spring 2020, each library will have a redesigned webpage with a single search box that will allow users to search across all library resources at one time and easily request items from any VCCCD library. Future plans for this new system also include online library fine and fee payment.

Bear with us as with any new technology, there will be an adjustment period and errors and issues to address.  The library classified professionals and librarians at all three colleges are committed to working to improve the new system and adapt it to the needs of students, classified professionals, and faculty.

This project created the opportunity for library classified professionals and librarians at our colleges to collaborate and build strong partnerships. Great things are happening in our libraries. Congratulations to the following projects leads for a job well done!

  1. Will the college students be able to get their classroom required text books and lab books at a low cost or no cost?

    1. Have you checked out the Textbook Lending Library at each campus? You can check out textbooks for the entire semester free of charge.
